Frequently Asked Questions

Is camp for Lincoln Douglas (LD) Debaters only?  Camp is geared towards the LD format, and the scrimmage on Day 3 is only LD debate.  However, we think that the information and techniques taught at camp are intrinsic to all forms of debate, so we welcome debaters from Policy and Public Forum (PF) to camp.  Policy and PF debaters are welcome to participate in the Day 3 tournament as LD entries.

What do I need to bring?
Please see the page titled "What To Bring" for a complete list of the necessary items.

What is the resolution for the scrimmage tournament?
We will be using the same resolution throughout camp, both for our lectures and for the tournament.  That resolution will be taken from the Victory Briefs website, and we will announce it on the first day of camp.

Where is camp going to be?
Cheverus High School, Portland, Maine.  Please see the page titled "Directions" for more information.

What is the dress code?
There is no dress code for the first two days of camp; please dress comfortably.  Dress code for the scrimmage tournament is business casual.

Do I need to bring lunch?
Lunch will be provided all three days of camp from Subway and a local pizza place.  Please bring your own beverages.  If you have any special diet requests, contact us and we will do our best to cater to your needs.

How much experience do I need to have?
We recommend that you have the debate essentials under your belt as the camp is not geared towards students who are brand new to debate.  However, the information to be gained by attending this camp will be useful to debaters at all levels.

Can coaches attend?
Yes; the fee for a coach to attend is $15, with a request that the coach provide their services as a judge on Day 3 for the scrimmage tournament.

Who else is coming to camp?
The invitation is open to all high school debaters.  For a complete list of participants, please see the page titled "Participants."

What if I need to cancel?
You have until July 3rd 2009 to cancel your spot at camp.  If you cancel after that time, or do not show up to camp, your registration fee is forfeit.
